Vitronic Exhibiting at SNEC PV Power Expo

Vitronic will demonstrate its new colour line-scan camera at this year’s SNEC PV (photovoltaic) Power Expo, which takes place in Shanghai February 22–24. Named VINSPEC-solar, the system automatically inspects solar cells and wafers (thin, round pieces of semiconductor material used to make microchips) during production to ensure quality.

VINSPEC-solar operates above conveyors at high speed and uses sophisticated technology to capture a 64-megapixel colour image of each cell or wafer. Software analyses the images to inspect colour, surfaces and edges. It detects flaws such as micro cracks and colour/contour/texture/print deviations with ease, and sends components back for reworking if necessary.

Asia is a new market for the company, which recently opened offices and service centres in China as part of a global expansion, and launched a Chinese website for potential customers. The SNEC PV Power Expo has grown into the world’s most influential photovoltaic exhibition. This year’s show has over 1,300 companies taking part, including famous brands from over 60 countries and regions. These include Germany, America, Japan, France and Austria. The 2011 event in Shanghai will attract over 100,000 visitors.
