Lights, camera, action: Vitronic video showcases new machine vision device

A humorous new promotional video from Vitronic shows its new VICAM-snap! parcel recognition system in action. Parcel handlers will be only too aware that processing parcels manually at goods-in and goods-out areas can be time-consuming and expensive, especially if operators have to pick up and set down handheld scanning devices while moving items through the system.

VICAM-snap! allows workers to handle parcels using both hands because it is mounted above the workstation, saving valuable time and increasing productivity. This leads to enormous long-term cost savings.

The device works by automatically capturing images of parcels and analysing the images to read the labels using an integrated decoding unit. In addition to barcodes, it reads badly damaged or marked codes, coloured and 2D symbols including high density modulated codes. VICAM-snap! passes the data to where it is needed, such as packing or dispatch areas.
